Now it’s time to scan the actual denture.

In general, polished dentures are reflective (shiny) and will need to be sprayed for scanning. Unpolished dentures can be scanned without spraying but users may apply the spray if required.

Note: If the denture needs to be used again in the mouth after scanning, only non-toxic spray can be used. Please follow the scan spray’s manufacturer’s instructions and follow all safety precautions.

  • The reference picture on the top, left corner shows what needs to be scanned in the currrent stage.
  • This is a maxilla scan stage. Maxillar dentures will be scanned.

17.png

  • The denture can be fixed/positioned easily and conveniently using Medit Flexible grip material.
  • Place the palatal area of the Maxilla denture onto the Flexible grip as illustrated above to avoid editing the bottom surface manually.

18.png

  •  Set the depth of the scan area to the palatal area as shown below.

19.png

  • The scan of clean maxilla denture exterior is completed.

20.png

  • If the depth was not set as previously described, or if the bottom surface has been scanned, please select ‘Edit mode’ highligted in the red box below.

21.png

  • Please select the bottom surface and delete it, leaving only the clean maxilla denture exterior data.
  • This is a necessary step if the bottom surface has been scanned. However this manual editing step can be avoided by adjusting the scanning area depth as mentioned above.

22.png

  • Now we will scan the interior of the maxilla denture.

23.png

  • Set the depth of the scanning area so that it is slightly above the teeth. This will ensure the bottom surface is not scanned.
  • The teeth do not need to be scanned completely as they were already scanned in the exterior scan stage, thus it will not affect the final scan data.

24.png

  • Now we will scan the mandible denture exterior.

25.png

  • As done previously with the maxilla, please set the depth of the scanning area above the bottom surface.

26.png

  • The mandible denture exterior scan without the bottom surface is complete.

27.png

  • Now we will scan the interior of the mandible denture.

28.png

  • The mandible denture interior scan is complete.

29.png

  • If occlusion scan was selected in the beginning, scan the occlusion of the dentures.

30.png

31.png

  • Align the interior and exterior of the maxilla and mandible in the ‘Align’ stage.

32.png

33.png

  • Then, align the maxilla and mandible scan with the occlusion scan.
  • Clicking the ‘Next’ stage button will proceed to the ‘Merge’ stage to finalize the scan data.

34.png

35.png

  • This is the final scan data with ‘Texture’ switched on.

36.png

  • This is the final scan data with ‘Texture’ switched off.

37.png

  • Once the scan is complete, the 3D scan data will be captured and shown in the initial scan setting screen as previews.
