New iScan Function: Face Scan

Have you had a chance to check out our latest software updates – Medit Link V2.2 and iScan V1.4? Today we’re sharing about possibly the most exciting new feature in iScan V1.4Face Scan! Many users asked when this feature would go live, when we initially teased about it months back. Well, it is now live! Read on to find out how this feature works, as well as how you can use it in your workflow.

Face Scan

As its name suggests, the Face Scan feature allows you to add scan data of the face such as the teeth, mouth (lips), nose etc. This can be done with your i500 intraoral scanner, in the face scan stage. You can scan the distinctive features of the face, from the teeth area upwards, then proceed with face data alignment using the maxilla or mandible data.

*Please exercise the necessary precautions when scanning to avoid pointing the scanner light into your patient’s eyes!

Face Scan

Other than the ability to do a simple face scan with the Medit i500, the new feature also allows you to import 3D face data as well as 3D bone data, as long as the data is in one of the three supported file formats – .obj, .ply or .stl. The imported data can then be aligned with the teeth scan data (and face data) from the i500, allowing you to get a more comprehensive final result.

*Do note that DICOM files are not supported.

Face Scan

Once you’re satisfied with the alignment, you can proceed to the post-processing step, and you’re done! Yes, it’s that simple.
