On July 14, Medit donated its latest intraoral scanner, the Medit i900 classic, along with a dedicated laptop, to the Smile Foundation, a nonprofit organization supporting dental care for people with disabilities. The equipment was later provided by the foundation to The Smile Dental Clinic, Korea’s only nonprofit dental clinic exclusively serving people with disabilities.
This donation enables the clinic to adopt digital scanning technology for the first time and reflects Medit’s commitment to expanding access to modern dental care.
The introduction of the i900 classic is expected to significantly enhance both the quality and comfort of treatment. By replacing traditional impression methods, the scanner reduces discomfort and eliminates risks such as accidental material ingestion — a common challenge in treating patients with disabilities.
“We’ve long needed digital tools to provide better care,” said Dr. Woo-Sung Kim, Center Director at The Smile Dental Clinic. “Thanks to Medit’s support through the Smile Foundation, we can now deliver faster and safer treatment.”
“Impression-taking has always been a challenge in this setting,” added Dr. Hyun-Chul Kim, a participating dentist. “This scanner makes a real difference.”
A Medit representative stated,
“We’re honored to support the Smile Foundation in their efforts to expand inclusive dental care. We hope this step encourages broader adoption of digital solutions in special needs dentistry.”
