Medit Cliniccad: Streamlining Dental Restoration

In the rapidly advancing field of digital dentistry, tools that simplify and enhance workflows are crucial. Medit ClinicCAD is designed to meet these needs, enabling dentists to efficiently design and fabricate various dental restorations. In a recent webinar, Dr. Riya Thaker, a Medit trainer from India, showcased the capabilities of the Medit ClinicCAD app, focusing on its practical applications and ease of use. This post will guide you through the highlights of this webinar, providing insights into how Medit ClinicCAD can enhance your dental practice.

Introduction to Medit ClinicCAD

Medit ClinicCAD is a versatile application that enables dentists to design a wide range of dental restorations. The app supports the design of crowns, bridges, inlays, onlays, veneers, and eggshell pontics, with a straightforward workflow that involves just a few steps. Integrated within the Medit Link ecosystem, ClinicCAD simplifies the workflow, making it accessible and efficient for dental professionals.

You can easily install Medit ClinicCAD from the Medit Link App box, which is user-friendly and suitable for both beginners and experienced users. The webinar focused on two primary cases: a crown and bridge case, and an inlay case, showcasing the app’s capabilities in real-world scenarios.

Medit ClinicCAD Live Demonstration: Crown and Bridge Case

Case Setup:

  1. Case Selection: Choose the case from the case box and open the scan files.
  2. Order List: Define the restoration Type, Method and Material for each tooth (e.g., crown, anatomic, zirconia) and select the appropriate options. Ensure to select the lines necessary for designing the bridge.

Placement and Adjustment:

  1. Data Assignment: Assign the scan data (Pre-Op Maxilla/ Maxilla/ Pre-Op Mandible/ Mandible) and confirm.
  2. Margin Detection: The app automatically detects the margin lines, which can be manually adjusted if necessary.
  3. Insertion Direction: Set or adjust the insertion direction for optimal fit. The app provides an automatic insertion direction, but manual adjustments can be made if desired.
  4. Parameter Settings: Configure parameters such as cement space and margin thickness to ensure precise fitting.

Finalization:

  1. Tooth Data Arrangement: Position the crowns accurately using tools like Free Move/Scale and 3D manipulator.
  2. Occlusal Adjustments: Use tools to adjust occlusion and ensure proper contact points, reducing high points and ensuring a proper bite.
  3. Final design: Refine the crown shape using Sculpting tools to add or remove material, morph the selected shape and smooth surfaces. This includes smoothing out sharp cusps and ensuring adequate material thickness. Adjust bridge connectors to ensure they are appropriately placed and do not interfere with the prosthetic surface.
  4. Completion: Save the design and prepare it for milling or printing.

Medit ClinicCAD Live Demonstration: Inlay Case

Case Setup:

  1. Case Selection: Select the inlay case from the case box and open the scan files.
  2. Form Filling: Fill the form within the ClinicCAD app, specifying the teeth for inlay design.

Placement and Adjustment:

  1. Data Assignment: Assign the scan data to the appropriate categories and confirm.
  2. Editing Scan Data: Use the Fill Holes tool to address any gaps in the scan data, ensuring a smooth and complete model for the inlay design.
  3. Margin and Insertion: Define the margin lines and set the insertion direction. Manually adjust the margin line if the automatic detection is not precise.
  4. Parameter Settings: Configure parameters for optimal fit and function, such as cement space and margin thickness.

Finalization:

  1. Tooth Data Arrangement: Position the crown libraries accurately on the margin area.
  2. Sculpting and Smoothing: Refine the inlay shape using sculpting tools.
  3. Occlusal Adjustments: Ensure proper occlusion using the data tree to identify and adjust high points.
  4. Completion: Save the design and prepare it for milling or printing.

Integration and Efficiency

One of the standout features of the Medit Link ecosystem is its seamless integration with other apps and devices. After finishing the restoration design in Medit ClinicCAD, you can use the integration app in Medit Link to manage and execute the next steps. For example, the Rayware application from SprintRay can be used for nesting STL files and sending them directly to a printer, eliminating the need for manual file export. This integration significantly enhances workflow efficiency, making it easier for dental professionals to manage their tasks and ensure smooth operation.

Medit ClinicCAD offers a comprehensive solution for dental professionals looking to enhance their restoration workflow. Its user-friendly interface, integration capabilities, and advanced features make it a valuable tool in modern dental practice. By streamlining the design and fabrication process, Medit ClinicCAD allows for efficient and precise dental restorations, ultimately benefiting both dentists and patients.
