colLab version 2.0.0.4 has just been released and includes various updated features and improvements. The software has also been integrated with Medit Link to bring even more benefits to users.
1. Integration with Medit Link
You can now run colLab Scan via Medit Link. After creating a case in Work Box, click the ‘Scan’ button and colLab Scan will be executed.

2. Integration with exocad’s New Features
– Partial denture framework
colLab now supports the integration with exocad’s new feature, the ‘Partial Denture Framework CAD’. In the Partial Denture Framework scan mode, it is possible to turn on ‘interproximal scan’ used in ‘Orthodontic’ under scan strategy.
– Bar structure
colLab Scan supports integration with exocad’s new ‘Bar Structure Type’ implant scan feature. You can scan the base model first, then combine the bars with the base model and scan again. Combining the two data sets minimizes the gaps in the base model scan data.
– Digital wax up
colLab Scan supports integration with exocad’s ‘Digital wax up’ scan type. If you select Digital Wax Up under ‘Wax up case’, colLab Scan will not show the wax up scan step.
3. Advanced Scanbody Alignment Feature (License Required)
The Implant Scan Body alignment feature in colLab Scan features a new algorithm for alignment when using the ‘Medit Certified’ Library. This new alignment algorithm not only has a very high position accuracy but also ensures the accuracy of each re-alignment. With the ‘Advanced Scanbody Alignment’ feature you will be able to see clear differences when compared with traditional methods, particularly for implant bar scanning cases which are highly-sophisticated prosthesis.
4. New Scan Button : ‘Add Scanbody’
In the past, when the scan body was insufficient, you could only add new scans under the ‘Flexible Multi Die’ Scan mode. Now, the ‘Add Scan Body’ button has been added in the ‘Together’ function under Model Scan Type Mode, allowing you to add new scan body data and move the data around.
5. New Scan Option : Automatic Export Occlusion Scan Data
This function has been requested by users for a while. If you turn on the new feature, ‘Automatic Occlusion Data Export’, under scan options, in the last step, the occlusion scan data will be exported with the name ‘-occlusion’. This data is not automatically imported from exocad. Users need to manually use the ‘Import Mesh’ function, if required
6. Automatically Download ‘PNL’ Calibration File from Server
If the calibration file does not exist on the computer while on colLab Scan, the T-Series scanners will automatically download it from the server using the bar code attached to the calibration panel. For other scanners, you need to type in the serial number on the calibration panel and the file will be automatically downloaded from the server.
7. Added ‘User Guide’ Button

8. High DPI Support

[ Improvements ]
1. Enabling the ‘ Export ‘ Function Even for Impression Scan Cases
The ‘Export’ function was previously not available for impression cases, but it is now available.
2. Change Scan Data Default Height and Save Last Settings
Users had to adjust the scan data default height setting every time they initialted a new scan. Now, the last adjustment height data is saved, eliminating the hassle of setting it each time.
3. Added Interproximal Scan Option to Splint and Veneer’s Scan Strategy
Interproximal scan function, which is important for Splint and Veneer prosthesis, has been added.
4. Expanded Post and Core Features
As per the request of many customers, Post & Core options are now added for creation of Inlay and Telescopic Crown.
5. Improved Integration with New Articulators
Both, exocad2018 and colLab, officially support integration with the A7 and Mark330 articulators.
6. Italian Language Support Added
For our Italian users, Italian language is now supported by colLab.
