Convictions in the criminal lawsuit filed in the Central District Court of Seoul against the CEO and the Co-founder of DOF Inc.
On Feb 10 2017, the Judge of the Seoul Central District Court confirmed that the two accused are guilty of professional malpractice under the Unfair Competition Prevention and Trade Secret Protection Act.
The Judge sentenced:
- Mr. Sim (Co-founder of DOF Inc.) to 1 year and 6 months of imprisonment for leakage and usage of Medit products’ source code
- Mr. Park (CEO of DOF Inc.) was ordered a fine of 5 million Korean won as directed by the Unfair Competition Prevention and Trade Secret Protection Act. for “The illegal use of Medit’s license manager”
During imprisonment, Mr. Sim appealed to the supreme court, but the appeal was dismissed and he has now been suspended for a probation period, Mr. Park appealed to the supreme court and it was denied as well.
Henry Park and Sim, who worked at Medit for 10 years, were charged with unjust enrichment by operating DOF Inc, stealing the core technology, trade secrets, and hiring executives and staff members of Medit.
Medit is pleased the truth has been revealed with the criminal convictions of Mr. Sim and Mr. Park. Medit is now working to recover damages caused by the illegal activities through civil lawsuits currently pending.
